Ningbo University (NBU)

Founded in 1986 with donations from Sir Yue-kong Pao, Ningbo University is a dynamic young and comprehensive university, jointly managed by the Ministry of Education, Zhejiang province and Ningbo city.

With considerable donations and generous support from overseas Ningbo merchants, the university has become one of the top 100 institutions of higher learning in the country.

Located in the northern part of Ningbo Higher Education Mega Center, Ningbo University covers an area of over 184 hectares and a floor space totaling 890,000 square meters.

The main campus, adjacent to Yongjiang River, offers wide space for study and research with magnificent building, pleasant lawns and greenery.

The university supplies a complete set of facilities and services for teaching, learning and research. Its libraries are now equipped with a CNKI Network Service Center and a collection of approximately 1,700,000 books and 115,000 GB digital resource. Moreover, the university has eight affiliated hospitals and another eight hospitals for internship.

The university now has 2,400 staffs, of which over 1,400 are teaching and research staff, including 650 who have PhD degrees in terms of teaching and research.

Ningbo University is proud to have five academicians of the Chinese Academy of Science, four experts listed in the Recruitment Program of Global Experts, four candidates enrolled in the National Hundred Thousand-Ten-Thousand Talent Project and 11 candidates enrolled in the New Century Excellent Talents Program, sponsored by the Ministry of Education.

The university has also been selected as the pilot for the Personnel Training Reform Program of the Ministry of Education and has a National level Teaching Demonstration Center, a National level Continuing Education Demonstration Base and is a member of the National level university students start-up and innovation initiative program.

Ningbo University now offers three postdoctoral research programs,75 bachelor programs covering a wide range of disciplines, including economics, law, education, liberal arts, history, science, engineering, agronomy, medicine, management and arts.

The number of full-time undergraduate students now amounts to 26,527, postgraduates 5,118 and part-time students 17,247.

Ningbo University maintains close links and intercollegiate cooperation with more than 140 well-known institutions of higher learning in over 40 countries, including Canada, Germany, France, UK, USA, Sweden, Australia, Japan and South Korea.

The success of the international exchange can be exemplified by a number of joint education programs, such as China-Australia MBA Program, China-France Tourism Management Program, China-USA Mathematics and Applied Mathematics Program.

At present, more than 2,300 international students and 1,055 degree seekers are studying at the university, including those sponsored by Chinese government scholarships.

The university has also established two Confucius institute together with the University of Iceland and University of Toamasina, Madagascar.

Ningbo University has also witnessed growing links with counterparts in Hong Kong and Taiwan and concrete progress in terms of teacher and student exchange, R&D cooperation, academic exchanges and cooperation, etc.

Up to now, it has signed cooperative agreements with 12 universities in Taiwan, including Fu Jen Cathlic University, National Taiwan Ocean University, National Yunlin University of Science and Technology, Chinese Culture University, Chaoyang University of Technology, MIng Chuan University, Hong Kong University of Science and Technology, the University of Hong Kong, Chinese University of Hong Kong, Hong Kong Polytechnic University and Hong Kong Baptist University.

In the future, Ningbo University will stay committed to serving the development of the marine economy and expanding international education exposure.

It will also endeavor to become a top comprehensive university in China with distinctive features and a well-known university with both educational and academic excellence.

Located in Ningbo City, Zhejiang Province, Ningbo University is generally consisted of three campuses, the east campus which is the main campus, the west campus and the north campus. All the international students can live on campus. Room Price: We offer two types of room:  

Standard Room:	2,500 Yuan per person per year	four students share one room	Location: in Students Dormitory Area
Double Room:	4,000 Yuan per person per year		Location: in the students hostel

Rules of Accommodation a. While registering, you should submit valid ID credentials as well as other proofs, and then fill out the accommodation registration form, check the list of articles distributed for daily use, pay RMB1,000 as the deposit money which will be returned back to you while leaving the university. Accommodation will be available only if the above-mentioned formalities have been settled down. b. The number and names of students sharing a dormitory should be strictly in accordance with the registered number and names. No guest should stay overnight, including the schoolmates. And the bed is not transferable, either. c. With the consideration of security, do not lend your key to your dormitory to others or borrow keys from others; and when you are out, please shut the door as well as the windows properly. d. Do not bring into the building animals and other unclean or dangerous articles, such as articles easy to burn or explode, or poisonous or radioactive materials. Do not burn anything or set off fireworks in the building. e. It is strictly prohibited to take such illegal activities as fighting, gambling, taking drugs, calling prostitute in the building, or to put up dirty posters, to distribute dirty books, pictures or photos, or to play dirty records, video tapes or Video CD. f. Do not have excessive drinking, making noise, or play records or CDs with too high sound. g. To ensure a tidy, comfortable living condition, please do not spit improperly or litter, or throw anything out of the window. h. To ensure security and avoid conflagration, please put out any possible sources of fire(e.g. cigarette stub),and cut off all the power resources when you leave your room. i. It is strictly prohibited to use unauthorized electric heating devices or lay electric wires or fix other electric appliances in the dormitory. If there is any violation, the person(s) concerned will be fined upon the situation. j. Take care of the articles distributed for daily use and public facilities. Compensation must be treated according to the corresponding regulation(s).
