Founded in 1937, Fujian Medical University (FMU) lies in Fuzhou, the capital of Fujian province, adjacent to Guangdong, Zhejiang and across from Taiwan. MBBS (Chinese medicine) and BDS (stomatology) programs taught in English are provided at FMU which is sanctioned by the Ministry of Education to recruit students from foreign countries, Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan. Mbbs  Program Description Fujian Medical University (FMU) is recognized by WHO and the graduates of MBBS program are eligible to take the Medical Licensing Examinations held by the medical councils in different countries such as MCI, PMDC, USMLE, HPCSA, SCHS etc. Teaching Objectives The course aims to educate students to study basic theory and elementary knowledge in medicine, gain basic clinical skills of some common diseases diagnosis processing, have the primary treatment ability to urgent, difficult and severe symptoms, and be qualified for careers in hospitals, the medical and health units, medical science research departments as well as other organizations related medicine. Introduction The curriculum planning shall include the following three parts: (1) Chinese culture and natural science courses. In order to facilitate their learning and life in China and contact with patients in their medical practice, the Chinese language shall be a compulsory course during the whole undergraduate medical program in English for international students in China. (2) Basic medical sciences, behavioral science, humanities, social science and medical ethics, preventive medicine and clinical medicine. It is also required to pass the examinations of these courses respectively. (3) Internship. The institutions shall meticulously organize the reasonable arrangement of the internship. The duration of the internship is one year (at least 48 weeks).   Main Courses Anatomy, Genetics, Embryology, Physiology, Biochemistry, Pathology, Pharmacology, Immunology, Forensic Medicine, Microbiology & Parasitology, Community Medicine, Internal Medicine, General Surgery, Obstetrics & Gynaecology, Paediatrics, Radiology, Dentistry, Ear, Nose & Throat, Ophthalmology, Orthopaedics, Psychiatry, Dermatology, Emergency Medicine, Anaesthesiology etc. Internship The internship will be arranged by the university. It lasts for one year (at least 48 weeks) and the location and tuition fee during the internship period are to be determined. On completing the requirements of the teaching program and passing the graduation examinations successfully, international medical undergraduates will be granted a graduation certificate and conferred a medical degree by the host institution, if they meet the degree regulations of the host institution. The English copy of the degree will state MBBS (Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery). Note:The course requires students to pay tuition or admission deposit before issuing admission package. Career After obtaining MBBS Degree, the graduates can apply to take the medical licensing examination in the medical council in order to get registered and practice medicine. According to the regulations in different countries, the students may need to do the degree accreditation first. A MBBS degree holder can find jobs in government as well as private hospitals, nursing homes and other health facilities. Currently FMU has two campuses in Shangjie and Taijiang, with a total land area of about 87 hectares and a building area of 379,000 square meters. Apartment for International Students is in Shangjie Campus, the accommodation’s price is approximately 1,000 or 1,250 per month(depending on actual situation. Shangjie Campus  Overseas Education College of Fujian Medical University is located in Administrative Building Block A, Teaching Area, Shangjie Campus, University Town.
